2.4.4.3 Location requirements
The following location requirements must be observed when positioning the SMB Controller.
Warning:
Failure to observe the location requirements can cause the SMB Controller to
overheat, damaging electrical components and/or the surrounding area.
Heat radiation Do not position in direct sunlight or near radiators or near
other heating sources
EMC Do not position in strong electromagnetic fields of radiation
(for example, near x-ray equipment, or welding equipment).
Heat dissipation Do not place any object on top of the SMB Controller.
Observe the clearance requirements for wall mounting and
desktop installation (see minimum distance guidelines for
wall mounting (front panel facing to the right) and minimum
distances for wall mounting (front panel facing downwards)).
In a rack installation, the space to the left and right between
the SMB Controller and the wall of the 19" rack must remain
empty.
Environment Ambient temperature 5°C to 45°C
Relative humidity 30 to 80%, non-condensing
An event message is generated if the heat dissipation is insufficient. Appropriate measures must
be taken immediately to improve the heat dissipation; for example, by providing the required
clearances or lowering the ambient temperature.
2.4.4.4 Wall mounting
There are two variants of wall mounting. In the first variant, the front panel faces right (see
Minimum distances for wall mounting (front panel facing to the right)); in the second, it faces
downwards (see Minimum distance guidelines for wall mounting (front panel facing downwards)).
