6.1.8 Replacing the spitting box sponges
This section explains how to replace the spitting-box sponges.
Replacement time
Replace the spitting-box sponges in the following situations.
 Right spitting box sponge every month. Left spitting box sponge every 6 months.
or
 When ink clumps have accumulated on the spitting-box sponges beyond the spitting-box
frame
Replacing steps
Follow the steps below to replace the spitting-box sponges.
Step 1: Verify the following regarding the operational condition of the product.
 Printing or other operations are not in progress.
 The operation panel display is Normal.
Note
 Make sure to install the spitting-box sponges in the printer.
The spitting-box sponges are an essential part.
 When replacing the spitting box sponges, keep in mind that the right spitting
box sponge should be replaced once a month and the left spitting box sponge
once every 6 months. This due to the difference in usage.
