Initializing Off Off It is displayed until the system display language
is determined immediately after the power is
turned on.
Initializing Off Off Indicates the controller side is initializing.
EEPROM Reset Off Off Indicates that the EEPROM of the controller side
is being reset.
The conditions for resetting the EEPROM are as
follows:
• Change of CU ROM (when disagreement of the
CU F/W version is detected)
• Change of destinations
• Forced initialization of the EEPROM (Factory
Maintenance menu)
• OEM setting by PJL commands
RAM Check

Off Off Indicates that RAM is being checked.
Percentage of the checked portion against the
total capacity is shown in the second line.
Wait a Moment
Network Initializing
Off Off The network is in initialization.
Flash Memory Format Off Off Indicates that the flash memory is being
formatted. If a resident/optional flash memory
that is not yet formatted is detected, it is
displayed when the menu item [Format Flash
ROM] is selected from [Maintenance Menu] of
the Factory Maintenance menu. Because the
above processing is secret to users, this status
does not occur in a user environment.

Formatting
Off Off Indicates the HDD/FLASH is being formatted
(initialized).
Checking File System Off Off Indicates that the HDD file system is being
checked.
The checking process for the file system can be
started from [Others Setup] - [Storage Common
Setup] - [Check File System] of Admin Setup.
Erasing Disk

Off Off Indicates that the hard disk is being erased.
The erasure process for the hard disk can be
started from [Others Setup] - [HDD Setup] -
[Erase HDD] of Admin Setup.

Checking Sectors

Off Off Indicates that HDD sectors are being checked.
The sector check process can be started from
[Others Setup] - [Storage Common Setup] -
[Check All Sectors] of Admin Setup.

The percentage of checked portions
PU Flash Error Off Off Indicates that the PU firmware has not started up
successfully. The status changes to Priority 251
(*** Flash Error) when initialization is completed.
This error can occur in a user environment. If
this error occurs, maintenance by a maintenance
engineer is required (as in the case of S/C).
Communication Error Off Off Indicates that communication with the PU
firmware during initialization has failed. This error
can not occur in a user environment.
If this error occurs, maintenance by a
maintenance engineer is required (as in the case
of S/C).
Status Mode Off Off Indicates that the printer is started in the normal
Online mode.
Once the printer is started in this mode, it
processes data (jobs) sent from an external
device (a host) even when an error occurs after it
becomes online (Ready).
An error message or warning is displayed on the
panel.
To enter this mode, switch on the power while
holding down <OK> + <Back> + <Down>
buttons. Because the above button operation is
secret to users, this status does not occur in a
user environment.
