23C ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT
How to check the fuelled starting aid
If the inside of the induction manifold is wet, check
that there is not a fuel leak from the fuelled starting
aid.
1 Disconnect the fuel pipe and the electrical
connection at the starting aid. Remove the starting
aid from the manifold and fit a suitable plug in the
manifold.
2 Connect the fuel pipe to the starting aid, but
leave the connection loose. Do not fit the electrical
connection, but ensure that the connector has a
suitable insulator fitted. Operate the priming lever of
the fuel lift pump until fuel free of air comes from
the connection. Tighten the connection.
3 Start the engine and operate it at low speed.
Check that there is no fuel leakage from the valve
of the starting aid.
4 If there is no leakage, remove the plug from the
induction manifold and fit the starting aid. Connect
the fuel pipe to the starting aid and remove the air
from the pipe as shown above. Connect the
electrical connection.
If there is a leak from the valve of the starting aid,
fit a new starting aid.
