14 CRANKSHAFT ASSEMBLY

1 Clean all the components before inspection.
2 Check the gear teeth and the splines of the drive
shaft for wear or other damage. Renew the drive
shaft if necessary.
3 Check the idler gear, needle roller bearing, hub
and thrust washer for wear or other damage.
Renew the components if necessary.
4 Check the drive gear for the balance weights for
wear or other damage. Renew the gear if
necessary.
5 Check the balance weights for wear or other
damage. If either balance weight is worn or
damaged, both balance weights must be renewed.
6 Check the needle roller bearings for the drive
shaft for wear or other damage. Renew the
bearings, operation 14A-13, if necessary.
7 Check the bushes for the balance weights for
wear or other damage. Renew the bushes,
operation 14A-14, if necessary.
