Appearing on the screen together with the fishing display are digital
readouts of the bottom depth, water temperature, ship’s speed, trip log
distance, and position of ship in Lat/Long or
TD’s
(if available). Other
characters show the range scale, depth
units,and
frequency
in
use, whether
the Auto Gain, Range, or Chart Speed are activated and
if
Alarm
modes
are ON. A horn-shaped symbol shows whether alarm audio is ON or OFF.
If the horn symbol is filled in, it’s ON. If the symbol is hollow, the alarm
audio is set to OFF.
Bars adjacent to the range scale marks along the right edge of the picture
show the alarm setting points for the Shallow. Deep, or Fish alarms.
The following sections describe operations or controls that are available
and are commonly used with
any
of
the fishfinding displays.
33.1.1 FishfinderlA-Scope
The “A-Scope” feature gives an
“amplitied’dis-
play of each echo sounder transmission and
ofthe
fish and bottom echoes. The A-Scope appears on
the right (30%) side of the screen, with the se-
lected Mode presentation maintained at the left
side. The A-Scope can be used on any of the
display modes, at any time.
The A-Scope makes it easier for the operator to
see fish instantaneously, right under the boat.
This can be a real advantage to fishermen wanting
to set
their
lines ordownriggers fortheycan often see the fish and frequently
the cannon balls with the A-Scope and
fishfinding
screens together. Essen-
tially, the A-Scope magnifies the fish echo returns which gives you a bigger,
clearer picture while the
fish
are still within your sounding beam.
To use the A-Scope, press the
-1
key. The A-Scope will be turned
ON and the screen will now divide vertically, 70% for the standard fishing
display on the left side and 30% for the A-Scope along the right side of the
screen. The A-Scope appears in the same 8 or 16 color levels as selected for
the fishfmding display.
To turn the A-Scope OFF, press
thelmlkey
again. The A-Scope will
be turned OFF.
