depth range value on the display screen. The 'RANGE
XXX"
menu will
disappear in about 7 seconds from the last change.
The range scale marks or numerics are visible at the right edge of the
screen. The minimum depth of the range scale displayed (normally 0)
appears at the top of the scale. The maximum depth of the range scale
appears at the bottom end of the scale.
IMPORTANTNOTE
If you are using manual range selections and the bottom echo is not
displayed on the screen, the digital depth indicator cannot operate, and will
just show dashed lines. When the sea bottom echo reappears on the display
screen, the digital readout resumes normal indication.
33.15.1 Auto Range Operation
Auto Range permits the echo sounder to automaticallyre-adjust the depth
range scale whenever the bottom echo goes deeper than the range scale in
use, or when the range becomes shallower than 25 % of the
range scale in use.
m
To select Auto Range, just press the
m
key. A temporary menu
“AUTO”
appears. To activate AUTO RANGE operation, press the
softkey
indicated by the menu.
"AUTO
RI'
appears on the display in the upper right
comer of the display area whenever Auto Range is ON. Auto Range is
turned OFF whenever the depth range is selected manually.
IMF'ORTANTNOTE
Auto Range operation may become unreliable due to conditions of turbu-
lence and may switch frequently in abnormally steep bottom contours.
Manual range operation is always recommended for best fish finding and
more stable performance whenever these conditions are encountered.
Whenever the echo sounder is turned OFF, the ‘last used” range scale is
saved and reused for the fishfinding display when turned ON again. The last
mode of range operation (Auto or Manual) will be enabled at turn-on.
33.1.6
