accumulation after 3-24 hours, (probably not enough to cause any damage).
If a leak is observed, the installation
bedding
procedure
should be repeated
immediately. It is not prudent to install a
thru-hull
and leave a boat in the
water unchecked for several days.

Installing the SpeerYIWperature Unit
The optional Speed/Temperature sensor unit
can be supplied in two versions. They are:
M78662 Bronze TH Speed/Temp Unit
or for metal hull installations
M78696 SST TH
Speedmmp
Unit
Externally the unit should be positioned clear
of other hull f and penetrations to avoid the
influence of hull currents on the speed readings.
The sensor should never be positioned in front
of a depth transducer, since the turbulence cre-
ated bythe paddle wheel can
adversely
affect
the depth transducerperform-
ante,
especially at higher speeds of the vessel.
Internally, the unit will need to be mounted where sufficient room exists
to tighten the flanged nut assembly and will allow clear removal of the
paddle wheel assembly for routine maintenance.
255.1 Installation
Once the location is determined, the following steps can be used to install
the sensor:
1. Drill a
l/4”
test hole to verify positioning is suitable.
2. If OK, drill a 2” hole using a hole saw from outside of the hull.
3. Unscrew the cap nut and remove the sensor assembly from the bronze
housing by pulling up on the top ring. Lay the sensor assembly aside.
4. Remove the flanged nut from the housing.
5. Apply a small bead of sealant or caulking to the housing flange surface.
Locate the notch in the top of the housing and insert the housing into the
hull with the notch facing in the forward direction.
