that manual tuning for that particular frequency can now be actu-
ated.
Use the
A
(up) or
v
(down) key to shift the frequency tuning in small
increments. While observing the A-Scope presentation, tune for the maxi-
mum echo strength indications on the display. The bar indicator and the
digital indicator at the right edge of the

show the actual
frequency tuned.
In practice, it’s a good idea to preset the echosounder for the tuning
calibration
by first
selecting
“manual”gain
control operation in the
FISHFIN-
DER menu and then by setting the range scale of the Fishfinding
dis@lay
deep enough to show all of the possible echo returns on the A-scope when
the receiver gain is set to maximum for tuning each frequency.
An example of the manual tuning process for the 200 Khz transmitter
would be to select the STD Fishfinding screen. Verifythe 200 Khz frequency
was in use. Check the Gain A control and verify it is controlling the screen
sensitivity level by rotating the control and observing the echoes and noise
level. Press
the(RANGElkey
and set the range scale to about 150 to 200 feet.
Press the-key, and then
