The
V8010
can be programmed to provide position
lixes
that meet specific
accuracy levels. This programming is discussed in more detail in the Satel-
lite- SF
(Special Function) section that follows.
The
Estimated Position
entry is also displayed for your convenience, so
you may confirm that the entry is correct for your location. If you should
trailer your boat for long distances, the Estimated Position may need to be
updated in order for the GPS to find your new position quickly.
PNO
menu
softkeys
appear along the right edge of the Satellite Status
screen. The
Ikey
has already been identified as the key to press to
update the Estimated Position, Antenna Height
,
or UTC Date
&
Time.
Themkey
(Special Functions) calls up the
SATELUTE
-SF
display which
permits you to change some of the conditions involving satellite acquisi-
tion, tracking, and position calculations.

FIXTYPE
The FIX TYPE selection permits the operator to choose between 2-D
(dimensional)
fix
data which uses three satellites and the user entered
antenna height to calculate fixes,or AUTO mode.
AUTO mode normally provides 3-D
tixes
when
four satellites are
available,or
2-D
fixes
when only
three satellites are in view. It is believed that while
SA is active, 2-D fixing mayprovide
slightly
more
accurate positioning since SA induced errors in
the antenna height calculations would not be
used.
