The ANCHOR Alarm
The ANCHOR alarm is intended to be
used to monitor your vessel’s position
while at anchor. If the vessel begins to
drift beyond the entered distance of the
anchor alarm, the alarm will sound off,
notifying the crew of the possible
drag-
ging
of the anchor.

SOUNDS WHEN
VESSEL CROSSES ZONE
The distance value to input for the anchor alarm zone depends on many
factors, such as the amount of anchor line out and the anchor depth, the
proximity of other objects or vessels, and weather conditions. However, the
incremental distance that can be input is units of 0.01 nautical miles which
is equivalent to approximately 60 feet or 18 meters.
So the first step, when entering an anchor watch, is to press the
mEVENT/6I
key as you drop the anchor to store your present position as a waypoint.
Make a note of the Event memory# (number). The number appears on the
display in the temporary message window when the Event key is pressed.
PresslGoTo/8)
and then enter the digits of the Event # that you’ve just
saved and then
press[ENTERI.
This makes yourpresent position a reference
point from which you can monitor drift.
