Occasionally, you
maywish
to enter a
waypoint
into memorybydescribing
the waypoint’s position as a bearing and distance from your own current
position. This is easily accomplished with your
V8010.
However, while describing a range or distance from your vessel should not
be a problem, it is important to make sure your ‘bearing” information is in
“magnetic” when input into the echosounder

If you are taking a bearing from your radar display, that bearing will
normally be “relative” (defines an angle from your ship’s bow)
To determine the magnetic bearing, just
add the radar’s relative bearing to your
magnetic ship compass heading. The re-
suiting
bearing is the correct magnetic bear-
ing
to input into the
V8010.
