Chapter 5. Product Structure 5 15
5.4.3. Back End Board
The Back End Board (hereafter referred to as the BE Board) includes the following three key
features:
RTC (Real Time Controller) / Host Interface
DMA (Direct Memory Access) Control
IQ Digital Signal Processing
The RTC generates control signals for the system, performs Digital Signal Processing on RF
data entered via the BF board, and then transfers the DMA to a PC via the Path.
Digital Signal Processing implements some functions of the Mid Processor in the existing
system and transfers data to the SW DSC via the DMA. The FPGA only covers the steps
leading up to the data reconfiguration, which is necessary for image implementations, while the
SW DSC handles the actual image implementation process.
