7.5.2 Preparing cables
To connect a cable, follow these steps:

Flexible (stranded), without wire end ferrule, un‐
prepared
Solid without wire end ferrule, flexible
(stranded) with wire end ferrule or ultra‐
sonically sealed
1 Remove cable sheath
and shielding
Length 60 mm
SIMATIC CFU PA Bundle with aluminum housing:
Also remove the sheath of the PA bus cables in the area of the shield terminals:
Bottom terminals: Remove the sheath in the area between 150 mm to 165 mm
Top terminals: Remove the sheath in the area between 140 mm to 155 mm
2 Stripping cables
Stripping cable for connectors with screw-type terminals: 7 mm
Stripping cable for connectors with push-in terminals: 10 mm
3 Additional preparation Compact the wires or use wire end ferrules.
Observe the following table.

4 Wiring the connectors Connect the cables to the plug.

Note
Cable cross-sections
With small conductor cross-sections and stranded cables, there is a risk that the cable will be
bent when it is plugged into the terminal.
Recommendation
Use wire end ferrules to prevent contact problems or short circuits.
You can find information on preparing the cables in section "Preparing cables (Page 63)".
Connecting the cable
Procedure
1. Prepare the cables.
2. In case of a stranded wire:
Press the screwdriver against the spring release.
The spring bracket opens.
3. Insert the wire into the round opening as far as it will go.
4. In case of a stranded wire:
Remove the screwdriver from the spring release.
