7.3 Preparation of the batch data
Like all BATCH flexible applications you can start and terminate batch data
preparation in BOM (see Chapter 3.3.1). In normal operation, batch data
preparation is started automatically by batch control when a batch starts and
remains active as long as at least one batch is being processed on-line (by
batch control) and batch control itself is still active.

Communication with the OS applications MESS (signaling) and PDA
(process data acquisition) takes place cyclically via the API interface. The
cycle for reading batch data is a system setting and can be configured in the
configuration dialog (see Chapter 3.6).
