ELECTRICAL SYSTEM 15-14
• Connect the multi-circuit tester with the peak voltage adaptor
as follows.
+ Probe: Black/White lead wire
- Probe: White/Blue lead wire
NOTE:
Do not disconnect the ignition coil lead wire coupler.
" 09900-25008: multi-circuit tester set
• Measure the ignition coil primary peak voltage by depressing
the kick starter lever several times forcefully.
Repeat the above procedure a few times and measure the high-
est ignition coil primary peak voltage. If the voltage is lower than
the standard values, inspect the ignition coil. (!below)
# Ignition coil primary peak voltage: 175 V and more
$ Tester knob indication: Voltage (%)
IGNITION COIL RESISTANCE
• Remove the seat, radiator covers and fuel tank.
(!5-2)
• Disconnect the ignition coil lead wire coupler
1 and spark
plug cap
2.
• Measure the ignition coil resistance in both the primary and
secondary windings using the multi-circuit tester. If the resis-
tance is not within the standard range, replace the ignition coil
with a new one.
# Ignition coil resistance
Primary: 0.17 – 0.70 Ω (W/BI – B/W)
Secondary: 9 – 14 kΩ (Spark plug cap – B/W)
" 09900-25008: multi-circuit tester set
& Tester knob indication: Resistance (Ω)
CAUTION
When using the multi-circuit tester and peak volt
adaptor, refer to the appropriate instruction manual.
* WARNING
While testing, do not touch the tester probes and
spark plug to prevent receiving an electric shock.
