TRACTION CIRCUIT HOT OIL
SHUTTLE VALVE
The traction drive circuit on the four-wheel-drive Turfcat
is equipped with a hot oil shuttle valve. The hot oil shut-
tle allows hot oil to escape the closed loop circuit of the
traction drive. The oil is replenished with cool oil from
the charge pump in the traction pump.
The hot oil shuttle spool is opened with oil pressure
from the forward circuit of the traction pump and allows
a certain amount of hot oil to return to the tank from the
reverse (return) circuit of the traction pump when trav-
eling forward. The hot oil shuttle spool closes when the
traction circuit is put into reverse.
