SECTION 8H. DECK MOTOR
GENERAL
The deck motor is mounted on the deck to drive the
blades. The motor is driven with the implement pump
and is controlled by the deck control valve. Repairs to
the deck motor are limited to replacing seals.

REMOVAL
1. Lower the deck, shut off the engine, and remove
the ignition key.
2. Disconnect lift chains and weight transfer springs.
3. Remove belt cover from deck.
4. Loosen belt and remove from deck motor pulley.
5. Drain the hydraulic tank.
6. Thoroughly clean the deck motor, especially the
area surrounding the hydraulic hoses and fittings.
7. Tag and disconnect the hydraulic hoses from the
deck motor. Immediately plug the hoses and the
motor to prevent contamination of the hydraulic
system.
8. Remove brackets from around the deck motor as
necessary to allow removal of deck motor.
9. Loosen and remove pulley from deck motor shaft.
10.Remove retaining bolts for deck motor and
remove motor from deck.
REPAIR
Repair of the motor is limited to the replacement of
seals and o-rings.
Disassemble as illustrated in Figure 8H-1, adhering to
important instructions.
Disassembly
1. Clean exterior of motor with suitable solvent
before removing tie bolts.
2. Before disassembly, scribe a line down the out-
side of the motor sections to ensure correct
reassembly.
