SECTION 8K. HYDRAULIC OIL COOLER
GENERAL
The hydraulic oil cooler is located directly behind the
engine fan and is integrated with the radiator. The
hydraulic oil cooler uses air drawn in by the engine fan
to cool the hydraulic oil (Figure 8K-1).

REMOVAL
1. Shut down the engine and remove the ignition
key.
1. Using a portable filtering unit, pump the hydraulic
oil from the hydraulic oil tank into a suitable clean
container. The tank holds 6.8 U.S. gallons (25.7
liters). If a filtering unit is not available, remove the
drain plug at the bottom of the tank and drain the
oil into a suitable container.
2. After draining, replace the hydraulic tank drain
plug.
3. Lift the engine cover to allow access to the
hydraulic oil cooler inlet and outlet hoses.
4. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the
battery.
5. Tag and disconnect the hydraulic inlet and outlet
hoses. Immediately plug the hoses and cooler
ports to prevent contamination of the hydraulic
system.
6. Drain the engine coolant from the radiator and dis-
connect the upper and lower radiator hoses.
7. Disconnect the air cleaner intake hose from the
bulkhead frame.
8. Disconnect the coolant recovery tank hose from
the radiator filler neck.
9. Remove mounting hardware from the engine fan
shroud and separate the shroud from the radiator/
oil cooler an move forward away from the radiator.
10.Remove mounting hardware securing the radiator/
oil cooler from the frame.
11.Carefully lift out the radiator/oil cooler assembly.
INSTALLATION
1. Carefully place the radiator/oil cooler onto the
frame.
2. Secure the radiator/oil cooler with mounting bolts.
CAUTION
Allow the engine coolant to completely cool before
removing the radiator cap. Hot coolant sprayed from
the cap can cause serious personal injury.
NOTICE
If available, use a portable filtering unit when drain-
ing the hydraulic oil. If a portable filter is not avail-
able, the oil should be drained into a clean container
and filtered for use. If filtering is not available, dis-
pose of the hydraulic oil and fill the tank with clean fil-
tered oil.

NOTICE
Dispose of unwanted oil properly. Dumping oil in an
unsafe manner is illegal. Check with local environ-
mental officials for information on properly disposing
of oil products.
