4. Install the traction pump onto the engine bell
housing. Torque retaining bolts to 60 ft-lbs (81
Nm).
HYDRAULIC WHEEL MOTORS
Service
Check for play in the hydraulic wheel motor shaft and
bearings. Excessive play requires replacement of the
hydraulic wheel motor or motor components.
Removal
1. Remove the wheel and tire assembly.
2. Remove the center slotted hex nut from the motor
shaft.
3. Remove the brake drum.
4. Inspect components for wear or damage and
repair or replace as required (Figure 4C-1).
Assembly
1. Install the hydraulic wheel motor onto the front
axle mount and torque retaining bolts to 65 ft-lbs
(88 Nm).
2. Install the brake adaptor plate onto the wheel
motor and apply 290 Loctite on bolts and torque
the retaining bolts to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm).
3. Install the brake assembly onto the adaptor plate
and apply 242 Loctite on bolts and torque the
retaining bolts to 18 ft-lbs (24 Nm).
4. Install the brake drum onto the hydraulic wheel
motor shaft after the tapers on the shaft and drum
have been de-greased. Install dry.
5. Install the brake drum nut and torque the nut to
250 ft-lbs (339 Nm).
6. Install the front wheel assembly and torque the
wheel lug bolts to 55 ft-lbs (75 Nm). Check the
torque of the lug bolts after operation of the
machine.
NOTICE
When raising the unit for service do not place
jackstands under the hydraulic motor.
NOTICE
Brake drum nut torque should be checked after oper-
ation of the machine to ensure that torque is main-
tained. Once the torque has stabilized, remove nut
and apply 242 Loctite and torque to 250 ft-lbs (339
Nm).
NOTICE
Assembly procedure for the rear axle wheel motor is
the same as the front wheel motors with the excep-
tion that the rear motors are not equipped with brake
components.
