4. Position the front pivot of the push arms
(Figure 12D-4) inside the deck hanger brackets.
Insert the pins through the brackets and push
arms. Secure the pins with bolts and nuts.
5. Align the safety/lift chains with the deck brackets.
Secure the chains to the deck with bolts, washers,
and nuts.
6. Start the engine and raise the deck completely.
Attach the weight transfer springs to the upper
anchor bolts.
7. Lower the deck.
CUTTING HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT
It is not necessary to remove the cutterdeck from the
tractor when making height adjustment.
Park the tractor on a flat, level surface. Raise the deck
until the caster wheels are 3-4 inches (75-100 mm) off
the ground.
Cutting height is determined by three adjustments:
Caster wheel mounting, caster wheel spacers, and
deck hanger pins. These adjustments may be made in
any sequence but must be the same for both sides of
the deck. Refer to Table 12E-1 for specific settings.
1. Shut down the engine and remove the ignition
key.
2. Place blocks under deck so that it is supported on
all sides.
•Caster Wheels
• The caster wheel can be mounted to the deck
mounting plates (P, Figure 12D-5). Select
either the HIGH or LOW mounting position.
Figure 12D-5. Caster Wheels
• Caster Spacers
• Spacers may be moved from below the pivot
spindle (E, Figure 12D-6) to make small
changes in the height of cut.

3. Remove quick pin (Q) from the top of the caster
shaft and remove the wheel completely from the
pivot spindle (E).
4. Select the spacers needed and place on the
wheel pivot shaft.
5. Insert the shaft into the pivot spindle.
6. Place the remaining spacers on the shaft above
pivot spindle (E). Replace the quick pin.
7. Lower the cutterdeck.
WARNING
Never attempt to change height of cut with the
engine running. Serious personal injury can occur
from contact with moving parts.
WARNING
To prevent serious injury, lower deck until it is resting
completely on the supports. This will prevent acci-
dental lowering while making adjustments. Disen-
gage all drives, engage parking brake, stop engine
and remove ignition key.
