When connecting Vertiv intelligent temperature, humidity, and door detection status (THD-M sensors), intelligent smoke or
water leak rope sensor (IRM0SO1S-C or IRM-SO1W sensors), and intelligent digital expansion sensors (EXP8COM), the port
uses the RS-485 communication mode. The following table describes the communication parameters for the sensor ports.
Parameter Value
Baud rate 9600 bps
Data bit 8 bits
Odd/even parity bit None
Stop bit 1 bit

Serial port
The monitoring unit provides four independent serial ports: serial port 1, serial port 2, serial port 3, and serial port 4. For
reference, please see Monitoring Unit Rear Panel on page14 . The interface adopts RS-485/232C (self-adaptive)
communication mode. The following table describes the redundant space parameters for the serial ports.
Parameter Value
Baud rate 1200 to 115200
Data bit 5 to 8 bits
Odd/even parity bit Even / Odd / None / Mark / Space
Stop bit 1 to 2 bits

NOTE: The combination of 5-bit word length and 2 stop bits is not supported.
EXP8COM card
The Vertiv™ Liebert® RDU501 Intelligent Monitoring Unit supports hot swap connection for the EXP8COM card for the
SmartRow™ 2 infrastructure solution via the four expansion slot. The expansion card provides eight serial ports and supports
RS-232/RS-485 communication to connect a user device (RS-232/RS-485 line-sequence adaptive). The card is shown in the
following figure:
