ASSEMBLY AND ADJUSTMENT
4. Calculate the shim thickness (T3).
NOTE:
If the P value is negative (–), then add the P
value to the measurement.
5. P is deviation of the lower case dimen-
sion from standard. If is stamped on the
trim tab mounting surface of the lower
case in 0.01 mm units. If the P mark is
missing or unreadable, assume a P
mark “0”, and check the backlash when
the unit is assembled.
Shim thickness (T3) =
Measured value (M) mm +
0.2 mm – P/100 mm
Example:
If M is “0.15 mm” and P mark is “+5”, then
T
3
= 0.15 + 0.2 – (+5)/100
= 0.35 – 0.05
= 0.30 mm
If M is “0.15 mm” and P mark is “–5”, then
T
3
= 0.15 + 0.2 – (–5)/100
= 0.35 + 0.05
= 0.40 mm
Forward gear shim
1. Put bearing inner race on the surface-
plate, place the shimming gauge on the
surface-plate as shown in the illustra-
tion.
2. Measure the measured value (M)
between the shimming gauge surface
and outer race of bearing.
