8.8 Removing the Mainframe from the Rack
1. Remove the iPAM400 front panel, if not already done; see Section “8.1 Removing the Front Panel”
(page 99).
2. Ensure that the iPAM400 is powered off; see Section “8.2 Powering the Mainframe Off” (page 100).
3. Ensure that all amplifier modules have been
removed from the mainframe; see Section
“8.3 Removing an Amplifier Module from the
Mainframe” (page 101).
The amplifier modules should be
removed in order to prevent injuries
due to the heavy amplifier modules
sliding out of the mainframe and being
dropped during the mainframe’s
removal or transport.
!
!
Make note of the slot occupied by each
amplifier module in the mainframe.
4. Ensure that the AC mains supply to the unit is
isolated.
5. Ensure that the DC supply to the unit is
isolated, if used.
!
!
External 24 V DC batteries when
connected to this unit can deliver very
high currents that could cause fire or
burns. Take care to avoid short circuits
of the battery supply by tools or
jewellery.
6. Disconnect all field wiring from the rear of the mainframe starting with the power supply cabling.
7. Remove the mainframe from the rack by
undoing two M6 Pozidriv screws (total of four)
on each handle.
!
!
This equipment is heavy (max. 20 kg).
Please lift and handle with care to avoid
strain or impact injuries.
Do not use the handles to lift or carry
the mainframe. The handles are
designed for sliding the unit into and out
of the equipment rack, and not to
support its weight. Use the underside
edges of the mainframe to lift and carry
it.
