11 Appendix – Three Line LLPA Interface
The LLPA (Long Line Public Address) Interface provides LLPA Systems with control and audio interface to
enable live and/or DVA (Digital Voice Announcer) announcements to any zone under the control of the PA
(Public Address) System.
This LLPA interface comprises three line control signals per zone or group of zones that the LLPA System
addresses to broadcast into. These may have a common audio input, or separate inputs if simultaneous
broadcast of different messages are required into different zones.
The audio signal from the LLPA System is connected to an iPAM400 audio input. The PA System control
signals ‘Access Granted’ and ‘Busy’’ are provided by open-collector digital outputs on a BMB01 Remote I/O
Unit. The LLPA system control signal ‘Access Request’ is connected to an opto-isolated digital input on a
BMB01 Remote I/O Unit.
11.1 Installation Requirements
The BMB01 Remote I/O Units and associated items can be mounted at the LLPA System racks. The space
required depends on the number of zones addressed by the LLPA System.
11.2 Cabling Requirements
Connection between the LLPA System and the PA System: twisted pair, CAT5 or similar cable
Data connection to the BMB01 can reach a distance of up to 1 km using a cable capable to hold the power
supply. The interface is capable to support an audio signal cable up to 500 m, however the maximum cable
length depends on the driver used to feed the iPAM400 audio input.
