6.3.1.7 Copying Log and Configuration Files to a USB Memory Stick
This option copies all configuration files in the configuration directory (/dva/config/
directory) and all
log files in the RAM disk (/dev/shm/
directory) to a USB memory stick.
To Copy Log and Configuration Files to a USB Memory Stick:
1. Plug a USB memory stick into one of the available USB ports on the iPAM400 rear panel.
2. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
3. Choose the “File Management” from the main menu by entering “6”.
4. Choose the “Copy logs and configs to stick” by entering “2”.
5. All of the log files in the /dev/shm/
directory, and the configuration files (*.xml and *.cfg) in the
/dva/config/ directory will be copied to the root directory of the USB memory stick.
6. If no further tasks are to be performed, then return to the main menu (if not already done) and enter
“X” to exit the Setup Tool.
6.3.1.8 Deleting Log Files
The log files in the RAM Disk (/dev/shm/
directory) are deleted every time the iPAM400 is restarted or
rebooted. There may be situations where it is required to delete these files manually without interrupting
the iPAM400 operation, for example when memory space is low.
To Delete the Log Files:
All log files will be deleted in the event of a reboot.
1. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
2. Choose the “File Management” from the main menu by entering “6”.
3. Choose the “Delete logs” by entering “1”.
4. All log files in the /dev/shm/
directory will be deleted.
5. If no further tasks are to be performed, then return to the main menu (if not already done) and enter
“X” to exit the Setup Tool.
