6.3.1.5.6 Playing a Message Stored in a USB Memory Stick to a Zone
This option will cause the iPAM400 to play a message that is stored in the root directory of a USB memory
stick to a zone configured for the iPAM400. A zone can be either a local output or a remote output, for
instance an output of another VIPA unit in the network.
To Play a Message from a Memory Stick to a Zone:
1. Copy the required messages (*.wav files) to the root directory of a USB memory stick.
The Setup Tool can only recognize files that are located in the root directory.
2. Plug the USB memory stick into one of the available USB ports on the iPAM400 rear panel.
3. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
4. Choose the “Test” from the main menu by entering “5”.
5. Choose the “Play message from stick to a zone” from the test menu by entering “6”.
A list of all messages (*.wav) in the root directory of the memory stick will be shown.
6. Choose the required message.
7. A list of all configured zones will be shown.
8. Choose the required zone by entering its option number.
9. When more than five zones are configured, you have the option to select more than one zone by
choosing “Select zone(s)”:
1
a. Enter "<all>" to select all zones or enter the required zone names separated by comma.
b. An asterisk (* ) next to a zone name indicates that the zone is selected.
c. Include zones to the current selection by choosing “Select zone(s)”.
d. Remove zones from the current selection by choosing “Deselect zone(s)”.
e. View the selected zones by choosing “List selected zone(s)”.
f. Choose “Done” to play the message to selected zone(s).
The selection is stored by the Setup Tool, so the next time a zone selection is required, the
zone(s) selected for the previous function will be selected by default.
10. The chosen message will be played to the chosen zone, and then the current menu options will be
shown for further selections.
It is not possible to terminate the message before it completes its cycle.
11. If no further tasks are to be performed, then return to the main menu (if not already done) and enter
“X” to exit the Setup Tool.

Option number varies according to the number of zones configured in the system.
