11.3 Implementation
Refer to diagram in Figure 26 (page 127). Connection details are shown in Figure 20 (page 51).
11.3.1 Audio Input Signal 1
Driven by the source system’s audio output 1.
Connected to an ASL PA system audio input.
11.3.2 Routing Audio Input Signal 1 into Zone 1
11.3.2.1 Busy Signal for routing Audio Input Signal 1 into Zone 1
Driven by an ASL PA system control output.
Connected to a control input on the source system.
Isolated at the ASL PA end.
There are two options for this interface line, one of which will be selected in the PA system
configuration depending on the expected traffic on the system.
a) If the PA system is lightly used by lower priority audio sources then the audio source will normally
be configured to not interrupt lower priority audio sources; see control signal operation in Figure
27 (page 128). Then this line is configured to indicate:
Active = 'busy', if there is any broadcast into Zone 1 by any audio input which has a higher
priority than the source system = closed contact pair.
Inactive = 'not busy' at all times when the source system can broadcast into the zone = open
contact pair.
b) If the PA system is heavily used by lower priority audio sources then the audio source will normally
be configured to be able to interrupt lower priority audio sources if it desires; see control signal
operation in Figure 28 (page 128). Then this line is configured to indicate:
Active = ‘busy', if there is any broadcast into Zone 1 by ANY other audio input (which has either
a higher or lower priority than the source system) = closed contact pair.
Inactive = 'not busy' at all times when the source system can broadcast into the zone = open
contact pair.
11.3.2.2 Access Request Signal for routing Audio Input Signal 1 into Zone 1
Driven by a control output from the source system.
Connected to an ASL PA system control input.
Isolated at the source system end.
Configured to indicate; see Figure 27 (page 128) and Figure 28 (page 128):
Active = 'Source system request to broadcast', if the source system wishes to make a broadcast to
this area = closed contact pair.
Inactive = 'Source system broadcast not requested', at all times when the source system does not
wish to make a broadcast into the zone = open contact pair.
