6.3.1.4 Changing the System Setup
The Setup Tool also enables the user to easily modify the system IP configuration, and to safeguard the
ALSA (Advanced Linux Sound Architecture).
6.3.1.4.1 Configuring the System IP Address
To Modify the IP Configuration:
1. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
2. Choose the “System Setup” from the main menu by entering “4”.
3. Choose the “Configure IP” from the system setup menu by entering “1”.
4. Choose the “IP allocation” from the IP configuration menu by entering “1”.
5. For static IP address choose ‘static’.
a. Choose the “IP address: current address” from the menu by entering “2” in order to
change the IP address, if required.
Enter the new IP address.
b. Choose the “Subnet mask: current mask” from the menu by entering “3” in order to
change the submask, if required.
Enter the new submask.
c. Choose the “Gateway address: current address” from the menu by entering “4” in
order to change the gateway address, if required.
Enter the new gateway address.
6. For dynamic IP address choose ‘DHCP’.
The IP address will be assigned by a server using Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP).
7. Choose the “Accept (all changes will be committed immediately!)” from the menu by
entering its option number in order to apply the new IP configuration.
The “Accept (all changes will be committed immediately!)” option will
only be shown if any part of the current IP configuration is changed.

Make sure that any changes to the IP configuration is logged into the system design
documentation.
8. If no further tasks are to be performed, then return to the main menu (if not already done) and enter
X” to exit the Setup Tool.
