6.3.1.6 Restarting the iPAM400 Software
The Setup Tool enables the user to restart the software application whenever a shut down is not desirable.
The user has the option to enable the event logging in order to help troubleshooting.
6.3.1.6.1 Restarting the iPAM400 Software With Event Logging Disabled
This option will restart the software application with event logging disabled.
To Restart the iPAM400 with Event Logging Disabled:
1. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
2. Choose the “Test” from the main menu by entering “5”.
3. Choose the “Restart software (with no logging)” from the test menu by entering “7”.
4. The iPAM400 software will be restarted.
6.3.1.6.2 Restarting the iPAM400 Software With Event Logging Enabled
This option will restart the software application with event logging enabled. The log files can be used for
system troubleshooting.
To Restart the iPAM400 with Event Logging Enable:
1. Run the Setup Tool as follows, if not already running.
a. Connect to the iPAM400 either remotely or locally, as described in Section “6.2 Connecting to
the iPAM400” (page 59).
b. Run the Setup Tool by entering the following command: /dva/bin/vipet_setup
2. Choose the “Test” from the main menu by entering “5”.
3. Choose the “Restart software (with logging)” from the test menu by entering “8”.
4. The software application will be restarted, and subsequent events will be logged into log files in the
iPAM400 RAM Disk (/dev/shm/
directory).
Note that these log files are deleted every time the iPAM400 is restarted or rebooted.
5. If the log files are required for offline analysis, then copy these files to a USB memory stick; see
Section “6.3.1.7 Copying Log and Configuration Files to a USB Memory Stick” (page 82).
6. You can delete these log files, if required; see Section “6.3.1.8 Deleting Log Files” (page 82).
