The handling of LDAP queries with the LDAP cache is shown in the flowchart below:

Notes:
• The device can save up to six LDAP Attributes in the cache per user (search
LDAP key). Once an Attribute is cached, whenever the device queries the LDAP
server with a new Attribute for that user, it saves the Attribute (and response) in its
cache. If the cache reaches the maximum number of Attributes for the user,
Attributes of new LDAP requests replace the earliest ("oldest") saved Attributes
(i.e., first in first out / FIFO).
• The device also saves in the cache queried Attributes that do not have any values
in the LDAP server. The device does not query the server for any subsequent
queries of such Attributes.
• Whenever the device queries the LDAP server for new Attributes, the device
includes all previously cached Attributes for that user in the sent query.
• The LDAP Cache feature is applicable only to LDAP-based SIP queries (Control).
