Tools and Materials
1. Obtain the following tools:
Screwdrivers, Phillips #2 and #3
Screwdrivers, slotted
Pliers, needle nose
Cutters, diagonal
Wire stripper, 16-26 AWG
Wire wrap tool, bits for 22, 24, 26 AWG
Wire unwrap tool
Continuity tester
2. Obtain the following materials:
Shielded DSX-1 cables (2 ea.), PN 005-0025 (10 ft.) or 005-0030 (25 ft.), or equivalent
Locking screws for DSX-1 connectors, panhead, #4-40 × 3/8" (2 ea.), part of Accessory Kit,
PN 003-0247
Ferrite bead RF suppressors (4 ea.), part of Ferrite Bead Kit, PN 003-0197
Prepare DSX-1 Cables
1. If DSX-1 cables, PN 005-0025 (10 ft.) or 005-0030 (25 ft.), have been ordered from Carrier Access
Corporation, open packages containing cables (see Figure 6-3).
NOTE: DSX-1 shield drain wire must be attached to connector on Access Navigator.
Do not ground second shield drain wire at other end of cable. If second shield ground is
not required for cable extensions, fold back and wrap with electrical tape.
NOTE: Two DSX-1 cables are required, one for transmit and one for receive. These
cables are electrically identical, pin for pin, and may be used for either transmit or receive.
DSX-1 cables come with 64-pin connectors on both ends. For wire-wrap connections, one
connector may be cut off to provide flying wires. Cables are ordered and packaged
separately.
