Provision GR-303 Service
Provision “Switch” DS1s to Interface Group
Provision “Switch” DS1s to Interface Group
1. Show switch DS1 settings with the following command:
show ds1 <n>
Example: show ds1 25
The show command will produce a message showing the DS1 settings. For example, the message
for DS1 number 25 might look similar to the following:
Settings for DS1 25:
Circuit ID: CA DS1# 25
Up/Down: DOWN
Framing: ESF
Line Coding: B8ZS
Type: SWITCH
Clock Source: NORMAL
Line Build Out: DSX-1 EQUALIZATION FOR 0-133 ft.
Loop Code Detection: OFF
Loop Back: OFF
Line Termination ID: 1(for switch DS1s only)
FDL Type: NONE
Send Code: NONE
Performance Thresholds: 15 min. 1 hour 1 day

NOTE: In the above message, loop back is a test function that is turned off during
normal service. Line Termination IDs are used only by GR-303 switch DS1s.
2. If switch DS1 settings are correct, skip remaining steps.
3. Set DS1 type to “switch” with the following command:
set ds1 <n> type switch
Example: set ds1 25 type switch
4. Set switch DS1 frame type to ESF with the following command:
set ds1 <n> framing esf
Example: set ds1 25 framing esf
