SelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)system
WhatisSelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)?
YourCASECONSTRUCTIONmachineisequippedwithanSCRaftertreatmentsystemtocomplywiththerequire-
mentsforexhaustemissionssetbytheUSEnvironmentalProtectionAgency(EPA).Themaincomponentsofthe
SCRsystemincludetheSCRcatalyst,theDEF/ADBLUE®dosingcontrolunit,theDEF/ADBLUE®injectionsystem,
andtheDEF/ADBLUE®tank.
HowdoesSelectiveCatalyticReduction(SCR)work?
Duringcombustion,harmfulNitrogenOxide(NO
x
)moleculesareformedintheexhaust.ByinjectingaDEF/ADBLUE®
solutionintotheexhaustpriortoacatalyst,theNO
x
canbeconvertedtoharmlesselementalNitrogenandwater.This
happenswhentheNO
x
moleculesreactinsidethecatalystwiththeheatgeneratedbytheengineandtheammonia
intheDEF/ADBLUE®solution.
NOTICE:Prolongedidlingofthemachinewithnoloadformorethan6hwillcausedamagetotheSCRcatalyst.
Duringcoldengineoperationatlowenginecoolantandambientairtemperatures,watervaporwillbevisiblefromthe
exhaust.Thiswatervaporwillresemblesteamorlightwhitesmoke,andwilldissipateastheengineandmachine
componentswarm.Thiswatervaporisconsiderednormal.
NOTE:TheSCRsystemcontinuestooperateforapproximately3minafterthestarterkeyisturnedoffinorderto
suckDEF/ADBLUE®backintothetank.DEF/ADBLUE®expandswhenfreezing,anditwillthusdamagethelinesof
theSCRsystem.Thisisconsiderednormal,andrequiresnoactionfromtheoperator.

DEF/ADBLUE®isaclear,colorless,non-toxic,aqueousureasolution(32.5%)withaslightammoniaodor.Itisused
tochemicallyreduceNO
