Configuring the IPS Application on the
AIP SSM and SSC
This chapter describes how to configure the IPS application that runs on an Advanced Inspection and
Prevention Security Services Module (AIP SSM) or an Advanced Inspection and Prevention Security
Security Services Card (AIP SSC).
Note The SSC is supported on the ASA 5505. See the “Module Support” section on page 1-2 for more
information about which models support SSMs.

Information About the AIP SSM and SSC
You can install the AIP SSM/SSC into an ASA 5500 series adaptive security appliance. The AIP
SSM/SSC runs advanced IPS software that provides proactive, full-featured intrusion prevention
services to stop malicious traffic, including worms and network viruses, before they can affect your
