6 Film roll holder shaft and calander assembly
6.1 General instructions
ATTENTION
All the dismantling and assembly interventions must be performed with the
machine at a standstill and the electric panel off. Every operation done with the
electric system active may cause serious accidents to people.
All the operations have to be done by a sole person, qualified and in perfect psycho-
physical conditions; during this operation you have to prohibit people from approaching
the machine.
Avoid laying tools or other objects on the machine since in falling they would harm
people and damage the machine itself.
Condition of the machine:
Machine at standstill with general switch turned to <0> (1 fig. 6.1) and the power plug
removed from the socket (2 fig. 6.1); shut-off valve closed, if request (3 fig. 6.1).
Assigned personnel:
One mechanical maintenance technician
PPE to be used:
safety gloves + overalls + safety shoes

The film reel holder shaft supports the film roll which is positioned ready for unwinding. The
film is unwound and threaded through the calander towards the forming box. The film reel
holder is fitted with a brake, required to apply the necessary tension during the unwinding
of the film. This is very important for a correct forming of the material in the forming box
area. The extra braking tension is obtained by tightening the leather cord.
