2.8 General Instructions for safety and prevention
NOTE
Every phase of the machine’s life cycle is described in various chapters of this
document. For every phase, at the start of each chapter there are specific SAFETY
AND PREVENTION INSTRUCTIONS for operations, that operators will have to
follow, including also the qualifications of staff and the PPE they have to wear.
DANGER
The machine’s work zone (Z fig. 2.3.1) is dangerous and whoever inserts his limbs
is an “exposed” person. To safeguard the safety of persons, it is prohibited to
enter in the work zone when the machine is running, while awaiting commands or
stops for any reason that is not an emergency triggered by the pressing of the
emergency button.
DANGER
The longitudinal and transversal sealing groups have parts (sealing wheels and
clamps) that get heated up at very high temperatures (also 230°C). The operator,
before touching these parts, has to wait (about 30 minutes) or else will have to
wear suitable protective gloves. There is the risk of serious scalds or burns.
ATTENTION
Failure to observe these instructions and what is written in Chapter 18 Use and
maintenance or the possible tampering with safety devices will exempt the
manufacturer from any type of liability in case of accidents, damages or machine
malfunctions.
ATTENTION
Machine preparation for production will be done only by the assigned, qualified
and trained personnel (mechanical maintenance technician), with the machine at
a standstill or in active IMPULSE mode.
ATTENTION
The client will undertake the commitment to entrust the machine exclusively to
qualified and trained staff who are in perfect psycho-physical conditions.
The client is obliged to undertake all the necessary measures to prevent unauthorized
persons from approaching the machine.
The client is obliged to inform his own staff in an adequate manner on the application
and observance of the safety provisions. To this end he will undertake to ensure that all
the staff in their assigned roles, are informed of the INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE and the
SAFETY PROVISIONS IN FORCE.
The client has to inform the manufacturer of defects and malfunctions of the anti-
accident systems he may detect, as well as every situation of presumed danger.
The operator assigned to the machine will strictly observe the instructions in the
following document and conform with the general EU anti-accident norms and national
norms.
The operator assigned to the machine will have to always use the personal protective
equipment foreseen by EU directives and national norms; he will furthermore follow the
instructions given in this manual.
