9 Torque limit (safety clutch) on the sealing jaws
(only for mechanical torque limiter)
Its function is to bring the machine to a halt when a solid object is caught between the
sealing jaws. This is necessary in order to avoid damage to the jaws and transmissions.
In order to engage and re-start the machine after a stop caused by the safety clutch, turn
the hand wheel (Fig. 9.2 pos. 1) in order to free the object from in between the jaws. To
engage the jaw again rotate the hand wheel until you hear the jaw engage, once the jaw
is engaged you will not be able to turn the hand wheel freely. At this point the machine
will be in a position to re-start again. Important! If the machine does not come to a halt
when an object is caught in between the jaws then make sure the micro-switch (Fig. 9.1
pos. 1) is close enough to the disc that activates the switch. Do not position the micro-
switch to close to the disc as the machine may not re-start. It is possible to adjust the
sensibility of the torque limit in order for it to bring the machine to an halt easily or with
more force. Fasten the rings (Fig. 9.1 pos. 2) for less sensibility and conversely. The
adjustment of the rings is carried out by means of the ring spanners supplied with the
machine tool box.
ATTENTION The rings must not be excessively fastened the torque limit
adjustment rings (Fig. 9.1 pos. 2), because the clutch will not be activated and
therefore not bring the machine to an halt, serious damage will be caused to the
sealing jaws and transmissions, and may cause serious injury to hands or arms
and even cut them off.
