7.4 Replacement of a resistance/probe
To make sure the heaters and thermocouples are in good working order check the
heat control and make sure that the temperature imposed corresponds to the temperature
reached, also make sure the LED switches on and off at regular intervals.
Replacement of a broken heat element and thermocouple:
a) Disconnect the electrical and supply to the machine
b) Remove the guard that cover the fin wheel slip rings (Fig. 7.5 pos.1)
c) Remove the side guard of the fin wheel slip rings (Fig. 7.5 pos.2)
NOTE Air tubes are located inside the safety guard and since they are
rather long to allow sufficient operating room to the maintenance technician, IT IS
NOT NECESSARY TO DISCONNECT THEM.
d) Remove the lower guard of the fin wheel slip rings (Fig. 7.5 pos. 3).
e) Remove the two wires (terminals) connected to the slip ring (the 4 track slip ring has 4
wires, the resistance has the two thicker wires.
f) Remove the broken resistance and replace with a new one, carry out the above operation
in the inverse way.
