a) With the wooden handle of the hammer push down the knife so that it goes under the
sealing surface.
1. Loosen the grub screw (Fig.8.2.2 pos. 2)
2. Loosen slightly the allen key screws (Fig.8.2.1 pos. 1)
3. Turn out the allen head grub screw (conical shape) of a couple of turns (Fig.8.2.2
pos.1)
b) Wait for the jaws to reach the necessary working temperature. Heat resistant gloves
are to be worn during this operation in order to avoid burns to hands and fingers.
c) Close the jaws by turning the hand wheel
(Fig.8.2.2
pos. 1). Control the teeth
alignment
(Fig. 8.1.2).
If the teeth are not perfectly aligned loosen the two bolts that
hold the jaw onto the shaft move the jaw in the direction necessary to obtain a
perfect alignment.
d) Take a piece of film approximately 500 mm. long and fold it in two, place it between
the jaws and rotate them manually at a speed more or less equivalent to the speed of
the jaws during normal working conditions, check the seal and act accordingly on the
temperature or pressure until the seal is as desired.
NOTE The instructions for the adjustment of the knife is also valid for the
adjustment of the anvil.
