ES910.3-A - User’s Guide 30
ETAS Functional Description
4.7 PC Interface (PC)
The PC interface of the ES910.3-A is routed to an 10-pin connector (Lemo
socket) on the back panel of the device. The interface is galvanically isolated from
the other interfaces of the ES910.3-A.
The PC interface is a 10/100/1000Base-T Ethernet connection of the ES910.3-A
module to the user PC. This interface allows the ETAS Software Tools access to
the ES910.3-A.
The Ethernet interface has a link signal detector. As soon as an Ethernet signal is
detected, the “Wake Up” function switches from standby to normal operation
(see chapter 4.5 on page 26). When no more link signals are received, the
ES910.3-A automatically switches to standby mode after a certain time has
elapsed.
4.7.1 Mixed Network
If the ES910.3-A is to be used in a network with other ETAS modules (ES59x,
ES6xx) on an ES600 module, the ES910.3-A can communicate with the PC with
10/100 Mbit/s, the same as the other modules.
4.7.2 ES910.3-A Standalone Operation
It is also possible for the ES910.3-A to run a rapid prototyping model without a
connected PC (standalone). The ES910.3-A is connected to a PC and flashed with
a rapid prototyping model for this purpose.
4.8 CAN Interface (CAN1/LIN1, CAN2/LIN2)
The ES910.3-A has two CAN interfaces. One each of the CAN interfaces is
routed to the two 8-pin CAN1/LIN1 and CAN2/LIN2 connectors (Lemo socket) on
the front panel.
CAN1 and CAN2 are complete independent CAN channels with separated con-
nections and CAN controllers. The CAN interfaces produce a simple and direct
connection between the ES910.3-A and the CAN network.
The interfaces are galvanically isolated from each other and from the other inter-
faces of the ES910.3-A.
4.8.1 Operating Modes
The CAN interfaces of the ES910.3-A can be operated in High-Speed CAN link
(ISO 11898-2) or Low-Speed CAN link (ISO 11898-3). Switching between the
two operating modes is controlled by software. The operating mode can be
selected individually for each interface.
The Ethernet adapter of the connected PC has to be configured accordingly for
it to be able to send link pulses.
Note
The four interfaces CAN1 and LIN1 (CAN1/LIN1 connector) or CAN2 and LIN2
(CAN2/LIN2 connector) can be configured and used simultaneously and inde-
pendently of one another.
