ES910.3-A - User’s Guide 41
ETAS Functional Description
4.16 Real Time Clock
The ES910.3-A has a Real Time Clock (RTC). The clock has to be set in the web
interface of the ES910.3-A. This involves the PC time being transferred to the
module. The module can also temporarily store the time for a specific duration
without a supply voltage.
Error logs are assigned this time information. This makes it possible to ascertain
the correct time relationships of the error logs either with the fault behavior of
the system or with other events.
The Real Time Clock of the ES910.3-A must be synchronized with the PC in the
following cases:
• the first time the ES910.3-A is used,
• at regular intervals or
• after the maximum buffer time has expired (is not used if the ES910 is on
standby).
For the technical details of the Real Time clock, refer to chapter 7.7.10
on page 86.
4.17 Firmware
4.17.1 Firmware of the ES910.3-A
The firmware of the ES910.3-A can be updated by the user him/herself so that
future versions, perhaps modules with a more extensive range of functions, can
also be used. The firmware update is executed on the connected PC using service
software.
4.17.2 Firmware of the Modules mountable in the Extension Slot
The required firmware will be loaded additionally when the extension module is
plugged in and the ES910.3-A firmware is updated by the HSP service software.
This firmware update is esssential in following cases:
• after the first-time installation of an extension module and
• after every module type replacement in the extension slot (e.g. ES920
replaces the ES921).
If immediate successively different examplares of the same module type (e.g.
ES920) are used in the same ES910.3-A module no additional firmware update
is necessary.
As delivered, the ES910.3-A module contains no firmware to support the mod-
ules mountable in the extension slot.
