ES910.3-A - User’s Guide 33
ETAS Functional Description
The ETK interface of the ES910.3-A supports the ECU application via the emula-
tor test probe (ETK).
4.10.1 Initialization
If an ETK type supported by the ES910.3-A is connected to the ETK interface it is
recognized automatically. The ETK interface is automatically initialized.
If an ETK type which is not supported by the ES910.3-A is connected to the ETK
interface the overall system behaves, as if no ETK is connected. No specific error
message is generated.
4.10.2 Operating Modes
In addition to single transfer for application with the ETK, the ES910.3-A sup-
ports data transfer in block mode. The ES910.3-A module usually works in block
mode; single mode is supported for compatibility reasons.
The following table lists the features of the individual operating modes for the
ETK interface.
“Basic” Operating Mode
When using the “Basic” operating mode, older projects are supported without
any change. All ETK interface hardware can be used.
“Compatibility” Operating Mode
An important feature of the “Compatibility” operating mode is block transfer.
The block transfer between the ETK and the ES910.3-A is activated automati-
cally. This means the following advantages:
• Extended number of variables per measure rate,
• Considerably faster download times for code and data to the ECU and
• Considerably improved transfer times for rapid prototyping rates.
Please note that the ES910.3-A does not support all connected ETK types (see
chapter 7.7.6 on page 83). Take a look at the ETAS website for detailed infor-
mation on the ETKs supported by the ES910.3-A.
