1.2.1 Things to remember
1.2.1.1 Usage of EC350 in hazardous areas
You are allowed to use EC350 in hazardous areas, under some permitted operating conditions. Ensure to
comply with the applicable laws and regulations, and company policies for the usage of EC350.
Specific Conditions Of Use for IECEx:
l
Under certain extreme circumstances, the non-metallic parts incorporated in the enclosure of this
equipment may generate an ignition capable level of electrostatic charge. Therefore the equipment
shall not be installed in a location where the external conditions are conducive to the build-up of
electrostatic charge on such surfaces. This is particularly important if the equipment is installed in
a Zone 0 location. In addition, the equipment shall only be cleaned with a damp cloth.
l
EC350 shall be installed as per DWG 40-6061, and ERX 350 shall be installed as per DWG 40-6156.
l
Battery packs 40-6050, 40-6054 and 40-6064 shall only be changed in a non-hazardous area.
These battery packs have cells that may be replaced however this is only permitted in a non-
hazardous (safe) area. Only Duracell MN1300 non-rechargeable cells are to be used in these
battery packs.
l
Battery pack 40-6048 may be replaced in a hazardous area.
l
If Battery pack 40-6154 is used to power the CloudLink 4G M1 Modem, then it shall not be replaced
in Hazardous areas. The battery pack and the external power supply shall not be connected
simultaneously.
l
Battery pack 40-6197 used to power the CloudLink 5G Modem shall not be replaced in Hazardous
areas.
l
The CL5G shall be used only with a passive antenna with no additional inductance and capacitance.
The length of the cable to this antenna shall not exceed 1m. The maximum RF power shall not
exceed 3.5W, and the maximum RF energy (Zth) shall not exceed 250μJ when an external antenna
is used with CloudLink 5G. Furthermore, the external antenna shall not have another source of
power except the CloudLink 5G.
Conditions of Acceptability (Class I, Division 1, Groups C and D, T4):
l
Under certain extreme circumstances, the non-metallic parts incorporated in the enclosure of this
equipment may generate an ignition-capable level of electrostatic charge. Therefore the equipment
shall not be installed in a location where the external conditions are conducive to the build-up of
electrostatic charge on such surfaces. This is particularly important if the equipment is installed in
