4 – Operation
Edge start on a workpiece
When cutting material up to 10 mm (3/8 inch) thick, start the torch at the edge of the workpiece to prolong consumable
life.
1. With the ground clamp attached to the workpiece,
hold the torch perpendicular (90°) to the workpiece
and on the edge.
2. Pull the torch trigger to start the arc. You may need
to pause at the edge until the arc has cut completely
through the workpiece.
3. Drag the torch lightly across the workpiece to
proceed with the cut. Maintain a steady, even pace.
