– Return Media Error to Host
Use this option to convert sectors on all volume copies, which contain different
contents, into virtual medium errors. Upon completion, the command logs an event,
which indicates the number of differences that were found, the number that were
converted into medium errors, and the number that were not converted. Use this option
if you are unsure what the correct data is and you do not want an incorrect version of
the data to be used.
3. Select which action to perform and click Validate to start the task.
4. The volume is now checked. If the task dialog stays open, review the task results and click
Close.
5. Figure 8-72 shows the output when you select the volume copy Generate Event of
Differences option.

The validation process runs as a background process and might take time, depending on
the volume size. You can check the status in the Running Tasks window, as shown in
Figure 8-73.
