About this task
Use this procedure to install ProtecTIER Manager on the TSSC.
The ProtecTIER Manager installation wizard and the ProtecTIER Manager
application are fully compatible with the JAWS screen-reader software. ProtecTIER
Manager also allows you to change other accessibility settings, such as the contrast
resolution mode and color palette. Instructions for installing JAWS and the
Java-based accessibility tools, and for setting the contrast resolution mode and
color palette are available in “Accessibility for publications and ProtecTIER
Manager” on page 169.
Procedure
Perform the following steps to install ProtecTIER Manager on the TSSC.
1. If the TSSC is not already powered on, power on the TSSC.
2. If prompted for login information, enter the user name: service and the
password: service.
The TSSC blue desktop displays.
3. Right-click the TSSC blue desktop.
The IBM TS3000 System Console menu opens.
4. Select Browser Functions > ProtecTIER Manager Functions > Install GUI. The
TSSC CD-ROM drive opens.
5. Insert the IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Manager V3.1.8 DVD. The following
message displays:
Installation may last a few moments. Please be patient.
6. When the ProtecTIER Manager installation wizard starts, follow the on-screen
instructions to complete the installation.
For detailed information about using the ProtecTIER Manager installation
wizard, refer to the procedure in “Installing on a Windows workstation” on
page 129.
When the installation is complete and ProtecTIER Manager has been
successfully installed, the Install Complete window opens.
7. Click Done. The ProtecTIER Manager installation wizard closes and the TSSC
CD-ROM drive opens.
8. Remove the IBM System Storage ProtecTIER Manager V3.1.8 DVD.
9. Install Storage Manager. Follow the directions as they are provided. Ensure that
the customer is aware of the restriction discussed in the following note.
Note: When using Storage Manager, do not alter the naming convention of the
storage subsystems for the Appliance or Gateway. ProtecTIER RAS code
requires the name remain at its manufactured naming convention
(DS_Cache_Subsystem or DiskArray-xxx-xxx) for proper storage error
reporting.
Results
ProtecTIER Manager is now installed on the TSSC.
