GPS Multi-Path Effects
When the UAS is placed close to walls which can reflect the satellite signal, the GPS receiver has
no possibility of identifying if the signal comes from a reflection or directly from a satellite.
Therefore, situations where reflections are interpreted incorrectly and full GPS reception is
displayed, but the actual position accuracy is very low may occur. The Pilot needs to pay special
attention in such situations. Whenever there are potential shadings or reflections of the GPS
signal, it is recommended to not use the GPS-Mode.
2.9.2 Height Mode
In this mode, the inputs, via the Intel
®
Cockpit GCS, control the roll and pitch angles of the UAS.
For example, giving full input to the left (using the right control stick, which controls pitch and
roll) means the system will roll 50° to the left. With this configuration, the wind direction and
speed will influence the direction and speed of the UAS.
Attitude and height control is active. When there is no input from the Pilot, the system will:
Keep its orientation in the air (system will be leveled).
Keep its height within the limits of the height controller (approx. 1 3 m).
For safety reasons and to make operation as easy as possible, there are some limitations:
Roll and pitch angles are limited to 50°.
Ascend rate is limited to 3 m/s.
Descend rate is limited to 3 m/s.
2.9.3 Manual Mode
In this mode, the inputs, via the Intel
®
Cockpit GCS, control the roll and pitch angles and the
thrust of the UAS. The direction and the speed of the UAS is influenced by the wind direction
and speed.
CAUTION: THE SYSTEM WILL NEITHER KEEP ITS POSITION NOR COMPENSATE FOR WIND.
THE POSITION MUST BE HELD MANUALLY BY THE REMOTE PILOT.
WARNING: AVOID FULL CONTROL STICK INPUTS IN HEIGHT-MODE! THE INTEL® FALCON™ 8+
UAS CAN BE OVERSTRESSED IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS SUCH AS FLYING ABRUPT
MANEUVERS WITH A LOW BATTERY.
