Dismantling
Fig 31.
Clean the assembly thoroughly before attempting to
dismantle.
1 Remove circlip 1.
2 Drift shaft 2 out of the roller assembly. Remove and
discard ‘O’ rings 3.
3 Lift off bracket 4.
4 Remove roller assembly 5.
5 Remove outer portion of metal face seals 6 from the
brackets 4 and the inner portions from the roller 5.
6 Renew bush 7 as necessary.
Assembly
Assembly is a reversal of the dismantling procedure.
Renew all seals and ‘O’ rings. When fitting metal face seals
6 push the inner ring into the roller bore on both sides and
the outer ring into the bore in item 4 on both sides. Coat the
metal face with oil before assembly.
Make sure that circlip 1 fits securely in the groove of shaft
2.
Roller end float should be 0.12 - 1.37 mm (0.005 - 0.053
in).
Fill with 165cc of EP60W/90 oil though the plug hole. Coat
threads of plug 8 with JCB Threadlocker & Sealer before
fitting.
