Cleaning the Machine
Park the machine on firm level ground, engage the parking
brake and set the transmission to neutral. Lower the
attachments to the ground and stop the engine.
!MWARNING
To avoid burning, wear protective gloves when
handling hot components. To protect your eyes, wear
goggles when using a wire brush to clean
components.
HYD-1-3
Avoid using neat detergent - always dilute detergents as
per the manufacturer's recommendations, otherwise
damage to the paint finish may occur.
Always adhere to local regulations regarding the disposal
of debris created from machine cleaning.
It is important to note that excessive power washing can
cause damage to the seals or bearings. Take care during
routine machine washing not to direct high power water
jets directly at oil seals or universal joints.
Note: The machine must always be greased after pressure
washing or steam cleaning.
Clean the machine using water and or steam. Do not allow
mud, debris etc. to build upon the machine, pay particular
attention to the following areas:
!MWARNING
Airborne particles of light combustible material such
as straw, grass, wood shavings, etc. must not be
allowed to accumulate within the engine compartment
or in the propshaft guards (when fitted). Inspect these
areas frequently and clean at the beginning of each
work shift or more often if required. Before opening
the engine cover, ensure that the top is clear of debris.
5-3-1-12_3
1 If the radiator tubes/fins get clogged the radiator will
be less efficient.
Open the engine cover and remove the rear panel.
K
Access Panels ( T 3-24).
After allowing the engine to cool down use gentle
water pressure to remove debris from the radiator,
directing the hose from the outside of the radiator.
Water will drain through the aperture at the base of
the radiator cowl. DO NOT use high water pressure
otherwise the radiator core may be damaged.
Direct the hose to remove debris from the hydraulic oil
cooler, taking care not to damage the core. Keep
water away from the reverse alarm unit, if fitted.
Inspect the radiator and oil cooler for damage.
Make sure the loosened material is brushed out of the
cooling enclosure.
2 Engine
Do not allow mud to build up on the engine and
transmission. Pay particular attention to the exhaust
area, remove all combustible material.
The engine or certain components could be damaged
by high pressure washing systems, special
precautions must be taken if the engine is to be
washed using a high pressure system.
Do not attempt to clean any part of the engine while it
is running. Stop the engine and allow it to cool for at
least one hour. Disconnect the battery.
